Programs may be cancelled if registration minimum numbers are not met. Be sure to register early. What is Flat Water Canoe Racing? Kayaks are covered boats, with a cockpit. You sit
in a kayak and use a double-bladed paddle, and use a rudder to steer. Canoes are
uncovered open boats. You high kneel in a canoe, and use a single bladed
paddle, and have to use technique to steer. Beyond the Canoe-Kayak division, boats are
further divided into team boats and singles. There are three sizes of boats
Single, Doubles, and Fours, commonly called K-1, K-2, and K-4 for kayaks, and
C-1, C-2, and C-4 for canoes. K-1s and C-1s offer a great individual sporting
experience, while the team boats offer a great teamwork experience. Even when
you are in singles, every race you do earns points for the club, so even
individual efforts help the team. We wish to
acknowledge the Government of British Columbia for their contribution to our
youth program through Gaming Grants. |
