Adapted Recreation Program Volunteer - Role Description

 

Reports To: Adaptive Recreation Program Coordinator

 

PFA Mission: Our mission is to provide paddling programs that enrich the health and quality of life for disadvantaged youth, their families and the communities to which they belong.
We provide a platform for learning where each young person can:

Adaptive Recreation Program: Fort Langley Canoe Club, Power For All provides adaptive kayaking out of the Bedford Channel in Fort Langley.


Key Volunteer responsibilities include:
Assisting the Program Manager with equipment preparation and inspection
Assisting the Program Manager  with welcoming and orientating participants to program
Understanding and working with each individual’s level of ability, skill , and knowledge of kayaking
Working as a team member to have a successful program for participants, volunteers, and staff 
Assisting the Program Manager with return and/or packing up of equipment, gear, and program materials

Requirements:

Volunteer commitment required: Days/hours/duration
Duration:  Seasonal Commitment ( July 4th- August 30, 2009)
Estimated:  Minimum 6 hours per month
Days: Saturdays starting July 4th, 2008
All volunteers are required to attend a mandatory training, June 19th, 2009.
Hours:  a minimum of 3 hours per shift, starting from 10:00 am
